We feature another free Blender add-on from Kushiro, for making loop cuts on faces.
If you’ve ever tried to perform a loop cut on complex geometry in Blender, you’ve probably noticed it only works properly on quads.
Kushiro, known for developing practical and lightweight modeling tools like
Outset Boundary and
Resample Edges, has just released
Ngon-Loopcut, a free add-on that extends this functionality to work on any face type.
Ngon-Loopcut makes it possible to perform clean and accurate loop cuts on quads, n-gons, and triangles directly from Blender’s right-click context menu. It also includes an optional Divide Quad mode that further splits faces into smaller quads when working with quad-only selections, making it especially useful for hard-surface modeling or retopology workflows.
- Universal Loop Cut Support
Extends Blender’s native loop cut tool to work on quads, n-gons, and triangles.
Includes a Divide Quad setting that subdivides cut quads into smaller, evenly distributed faces.
Integrated into Blender’s Edit Mode context menu under Ngon-Loopcut for fast use without additional setup.
- Lightweight and Efficient
Simple, minimal, and reliable. No extra panels or complex configuration required.
- LoopTools (community add-on bundled with Blender): A well-established tool with many functions (e.g., “Loop Tools > Circle”, “Relax”, etc.) to assist with loop creation and topology refinement.
Difference: Broad modelling toolkit rather than niche n-gon loop-cuts. Great generalist tool but less targeted on n-gon issues.
- NGon Loop Select (by xz-blender): An add-on specifically for selecting loops on n-gon surfaces (e.g., “ngon loop select” functionality).
Difference: Focused more on selecting loops on n-gons rather than creating custom loop-cut behaviour. Good for aiding manual clean-up rather than full automation.
✨ Ngon-Loopcut is now available on
Gumroad.
