We take a look at a paid Blender add-on for stylized tree, bush and plant generation.
ShapeScape Studio is a new NPR toolkit for Blender 5.0+ that focuses on generating painterly trees and stylized foliage with minimal setup. Created by
Tradigital3D and
Cody Gindy, the tool is built for EEVEE and gives artists a fast way to create custom flora using their own painted textures and meshes.
Rather than functioning as a simple asset pack, ShapeScape acts as a full workflow system: it ships with presets, procedural controls, configurable shaders, and built-in wind animation, allowing artists to create unique vegetation tailored to their visual style.
ShapeScape Studio lets you generate NPR trees, bushes, plants, and grass from either included presets or any mesh you import. You can map hand-painted foliage textures directly onto stylized models, customize how they behave, and then export or animate them as needed for your 3D worlds.
It’s suited for painterly scenes, stylized environments, fantasy settings, and concept-art style workflows where artistic control matters more than photorealism.
1. Generate assets from any custom mesh
You can create stylized trees, bushes, and plants using ShapeScape’s presets or by supplying your own mesh. The tool procedurally builds foliage structures based on your input model.
2. Apply hand-painted NPR textures
ShapeScape supports custom texture sheets and includes six presets to get started. Artists can map their own painted strokes onto foliage for a traditional, expressive look.
3. Seasonal and shader controls
Adjust foliage, trunk, and grass shaders through gradient-based color systems. Seasonal variations (spring, autumn, winter, etc.) can be quickly generated.
4. Built-in wind animation
Foliage can be animated out of the box to simulate gentle motion or more stylized wind effects.
5. Includes ready-made content
Over 100 models and shader variations are included for quick use or reference.
ShapeScape Studio is ideal for::
- Stylized or painterly landscape workflows
- NPR animation projects
- Game prototyping with expressive vegetation
- Concept art visualization inside Blender
- Artists who want procedural control without giving up hand-painted textures
You can apply ShapeScape shaders to your own models, swap textures freely, and combine foliage pieces into custom arrangements. The toolkit is built with EEVEE in mind, ensuring fast iteration and a look that aligns with painterly rendering pipelines.
- Treedesigner + 400 Procedural Trees: A procedural tree-creation toolkit for Blender (Geometry Nodes) that includes full control over trunk/branch/leaf parameters, mesh resolution, wind animation and a large library of 400 pre-made trees.
Differences: TreeDesigner offers deeper procedural controls and a very large asset library, suitable for both stylised and realistic usage. ShapeScape leans more into the painterly, hand-textured aesthetic and is optimized for stylised output; TreeDesigner gives more raw procedural power and asset volume.
- Stylized Tree Asset Generator: A Blender add-on that creates customizable stylised trees using geometry nodes, hand-painted leaf textures, a scatter tool for scene assembly, and good export readiness.
Differences: This alternative is lighter-weight, more budget-friendly, and good for stylised tree generation. ShapeScape offers more built-in models, shader variations, and is more “toolkit” oriented; the Stylized Tree Asset Generator is more entry-level but still powerful for stylised environments.
