While Fabrizio was writing The Unity Shaders Bible back in 2021, we asked ourselves a crucial question: How can we know if what we’re writing is actually useful for readers?
From an author’s perspective, it’s always a challenge to predict whether a book will hit the mark. So, we decided to take a bold step: we released the first edition of the book completely for free—nearly 80 pages. This decision turned out to be a game-changer. We immediately started receiving valuable errata reports from readers, which helped us improve the book in real time. The first official sales began on September 11th of that same year.
Fun fact: The very first Jettelly supporters were Taneli Nyyssönen, David Jesús Ville Salazar, and Carlos Aldair Roman Balbuena. We’ll never forget that!
This Was the Beginning of Our Publishing Structure.
Since then, we've polished the process into four clear stages:
- Coming Soon: You can subscribe to know when the book will be available for purchase. In some cases, we'll have a free Preview with the first pages so you can see if the book fits your needs.
- Early Access: You may now purchase the book at a lower price that slowly increases as the book gets completed. If you decide to buy, you can use your Jettelly account to log in and download all future updates of this edition for free. The free Preview will also get updated from time to time.
As an Early Access customer, you can participate in shaping the book! Report errata, suggest improvements, and if you’re one of the first 1,000 supporters, your name will appear in the Special Thanks section (perfect for collectors). - Finished: Once the book is complete and no more updates are needed, we print it! At this stage, we set the book to its regular price.
