We take a quick look at a free Blender add-on for procedural building generation, based on Geometry Nodes.
Buildify, created by well-known Blender artist
Pavel Oliva, is a free geometry nodes library for Blender that focuses on procedural building generation. Released in 2022 and still active in 2025, it provides a modular and user-friendly approach that allows artists to generate buildings quickly without building complex node systems from scratch.
Buildify is designed to make building creation more efficient while remaining flexible:
- Ease of use: Once the modules are placed into collections, you can simply extrude, copy, and paste faces to generate buildings automatically.
- Modular approach: The library includes premade node groups that support a variety of architectural styles.
- Blender-OSM support: Native integration with the Blender-OSM addon allows you to use real-world data and combine it with procedural generation.
- Buildify requires Blender 3.2 or newer. Older versions are not supported.
- The provided .blend file does not include the architectural kits shown in the original videos. If you want to use the same kits, they are available for free in Unreal Engine via the Quixel Megascans library, or as paid assets for Blender.
- An in-depth tutorial is available as a Google Drive link at his Gumroad page, and he also provides access to a Discord server for feedback and support.
Although Buildify was first introduced in 2022, it remains a relevant option for Blender users interested in procedural workflows. It is completely free to use, including in commercial projects, though selling the graph itself or its derivatives is not allowed. If the library saves you time in production, consider supporting its development with a
donation.
While Buildify provides a flexible way to generate modular buildings in Blender, other tools exist such as
Post USSR Builder by Alexey Yakovlev, a simple generator for post-Soviet style buildings that only works in Blender 2.93, or
Blenderesse’s Generators for Blender 3.0+, which include free setups for walls, cobbles, and vegetation and can be combined to extend procedural environments with additional details. Some artists also prefer creating their own procedural façades or structures directly with blender geometry nodes.
