The developer spent years working on the tool before sharing it on the Unity Asset Store. Publishing it was also a way to help fund their game development.
In the Reddit discussion, someone asked how the controller handled visibility inside buildings. The developer explained that it combines raycasts and a dithered transparency shader.
The system detects which floor the character is on and associates building meshes with their corresponding floors. It then applies transparency to the building parts. For this setup, each floor needs to be organized as a single part.
Furniture can be included too. If it uses the same lit shader as the walls, the system can detect it and apply transparency without requiring each object to be configured individually.
